Halal Buddy Eats: House of Kambing

House of Kambing: Malaysia’s First Grillhouse Ranch

House of Kambing is located smack in the middle of MAEPS, a lush green meadow in Sri Kembangan near UPM. Halal Buddy arrived at around 12.30 pm and it was already jam packed with people. Behind the restaurant was where they kept their fresh supply of live mutton… I mean goat. There’s also camels too! We were so excited we had to contain ourselves from taking pictures because we were hungry. And we needed a place to sit.

The service was quick even when the place is full to the brim. We ordered the set with grilled mutton, chicken and rice. We had to go for plain water since we expected to go to a chicken rice restaurant, but our boss (Unicorn Slayer) decided to jump the bus and went rogue.

So we ended up here, and we didn’t prepare our wallet. God save us.

But to our surprise, the price wasn’t that expensive for a grill place, and we ended up only paying RM20 per person for a set meal of mutton, chicken and rice. It might sound a lot, but check out Grill Out Platter. It’s bigger than you think.

The mutton was sweet, tender and succulent. They cut it up in small bite size pieces so you can easily pick it up with your fork. There’s still bones in the mutton pieces, so you have to be a bit careful. Don’t scarf it down too quickly is what I’m saying. It seems like the chicken was marinated in the same sauce as the mutton , because it tastes just as delicious.

But man, you came for the mutton and you get your mutton. The best part of it is the soft, fatty parts of the meat. It just melts in your mouth with the juicy consistency of honey. So tender, so good. Goodbye diet, hello delicious.

House of Kambing also serves local favorites like Nasi Goreng Kampung, Mi Goreng Mamak and more. Their selection of local juices and drinks are the usual Malaysian favorites and are all very affordable.

All in all, it’s a great place to bring kids and hang out with friends in the fresh air. We didn’t manage to go up and say hello to the goats and camels (we were tempted to, honest) but from House of Kambing’s Facebook Page, it seems like we can! (with permission of course)

We can’t wait to eat some more meat. Thumbs up to Malaysia’s First Grillhouse Ranch!
